What made you interested in design in general? What drew you to UX/UI design particularly?
I have always believed that the user is not the problem; it’s the program or interface that needs improvement.
This mindset sparked my interest in design, as I enjoy finding ways to make technology more intuitive and user-friendly.
UX/UI design, in particular, fascinates me because it combines creativity with problem-solving to enhance the user’s experience.
What was the most significant or memorable project of your career so far? Why did you pick that one?
Unfortunately, I’m unable to share much of my current work due to confidentiality agreements, especially with my full-time position at Lidl, which limits what I can publicly reveal.
How would you describe your approach to design overall? What principles guide your work the most?
My overall approach to design is deeply inspired by my fascination with Apple’s philosophy of simplicity and user-centricity. I’ve always admired how they seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics to create intuitive experiences.
At the heart of my work is the belief that psychology plays a much larger role in design than many might realize. Understanding human behavior, emotions, and decision-making processes allows me to craft designs that truly resonate with users and anticipate their needs.
What skills do you see as indispensable for a modern UX/UI designer?
Indispensable skills for a modern UX/UI designer include a solid understanding of technical feasibilities to ensure designs are practical and achievable, as well as the ability to deeply understand the user from the very beginning—without making assumptions based solely on personal experiences.
Empathy is key.
Another essential principle I follow is balancing aesthetics with functionality. While visual appeal is important, sometimes designs need to prioritize working seamlessly and effectively over being visually stunning.
Beauty and simplicity can often coexist, but usability should always take precedence when necessary.

How do you maintain your work-life balance? What activities do you enjoy outside of design/work?
I maintain my work-life balance by stepping away from screens and engaging in activities that help me recharge.
I enjoy going for walks to clear my mind and draw inspiration from the world around me.
I’m also a big fan of board games—they let me disconnect from my phone, spend quality time with friends, and simply enjoy the moment.
These activities help me relax and return to work with fresh ideas and energy.
What are the biggest changes you expect to see in the design industry over the years? What trends excite you the most?
I expect some of the biggest changes in the design industry to come from advancements in AI, AR/VR, and voice assistance.
AI is transforming the way we approach design by automating tasks, personalizing user experiences, and offering insights through data analysis.
AR and VR are pushing the boundaries of immersive and interactive experiences, opening up new opportunities for creativity and problem-solving.
Voice assistance is also evolving, making conversational interfaces more intuitive and accessible.
These trends excite me because they challenge designers to think beyond traditional screens and create innovative, human-centered solutions in entirely new dimensions.

What advice would you give to aspiring designers?
My advice to aspiring designers is to embrace the fact that your work will never be ‘perfect,’ and that’s completely okay.
Design is a journey of continuous learning and improvement. You’ll develop your skills step by step, and as you grow, you’ll often look back at your old designs and think, ‘Well, that was something for its time!’ 😄
It’s all part of the process.
Stay curious, be open to feedback, and don’t be afraid to take risks—it’s through experimentation and reflection that you truly evolve as a designer.
Felix’s journey highlights the power of empathy, simplicity, and a user-first mindset in creating impactful designs. From championing intuitive experiences to embracing emerging trends like AI and AR/VR, Felix’s passion for innovation and continuous learning stands out. His story is a reminder that curiosity and adaptability are the keys to thriving in an ever-changing design landscape.
